United Methodist Men
Goldston United Methodist Men meet at 8:00 AM on the first Sunday of each month for breakfast, fellowship, devotions, and planning. They are an active group of about twenty members who focus on missions of the church. New members are always welcome.
Throughout the year the Goldston UMM help with local needs in the community. In the past several years they have worked on several projects for people with special needs. These include building wheel chair ramps, reshingling a roof, and other carpentry projects. They also built the picnic shelter at our church and continue to look for projects to improve our church grounds.
The Goldston UMM supports the work of the Meshach’s Carpenters both monetarily and in manpower. Spearheaded by members of our UMM, Meshach’s Carpenters is an interdenominational group that works to help rebuild areas destroyed by natural disasters. The Carpenters refurbished and rebuilt several homes and built two churches in Mississippi destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
The group also sponsors the Senior Graduation breakfast to recognize all graduating seniors in our church. One of their projects is a $500 educational scholarship for a local student. They also work with another local UMM groups to sponsor the Meronies’ Chili Cookoff for Missions.
The Goldston UMM sponsor two major fund raisers a year. An annual
fish fry/auction and an annual golf tournament.
